This picture is a close up shot of a human eye taken outdoors during a gin festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a freelance photographer and I have experimented with many types of photography but my favourite so far is macro. As a photographer I like the way figures and objects appear under daylight. For this shot I let the natural light do the job for me and I only focused on holding very steadily the camera on my hand so I dont lose focus.Equipment

I often see the kind of images that are used as a background for love and romance quotes and they really move me to create something simillar when me or my loved ones go through hard times. When my sister, who owns the eye in the image, was sitting next to me, I caught her on a moment of day dreaming, in sort of envisioning a better tomorrow after a love dissapointment. I asked her to stay still so I could take a close up of her eye because it looked amazing with its green colour.Editing
I processed the image in camera raw to improve the contrast, the white balance, the colours. Afterwards I opened it in adobe photoshop and used the dodge tool to emphasize the highlights on the eye surface.In my camera bag

The natural daylight is very unpredictable yet playful so you never know what kinds of shapes and formations the light will take when it reflects an object that is transparent, like the human eye. When a photographer is outdoors its a good idea to explore a single object from different angles and see from which the light reveals the most of it in terms of colour and dimension. In this example if I had take the picture from the front of the eye we wouldnt be able to see the depth between the iris and the cornea, we would see all of them as a single layer combined alltogther on a flat surface and the formation of the light would be different as well.
