Location
This shot was taken in one of the most spectacular cities in the world. I shot this on my first visit to Paris and I have been there a few times since.Time
I shot this image in the evening. I believe it was August when I was there so likely time was shortly after it got dark. I was aware the tower lit up in the evening and I made a point of being there to see and capture this. I was unsure the fountains would be working, but was glad they still did when I was there.Lighting
A difficult shot to take and process as there were quite a lot of different light sources in the scene all with different temperatures and intensities. Also the light at the top of the tower was moving so timing was everything to get it in a position that worked in the image.Equipment
At the time I was shooting with the Canon 70D and Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 Lens. As I had planned the shot I had my Tripod and remote trigger as I was aware a longer shutter time would be required at night.Inspiration
Its Paris do I need to say more. The Eiffel Tower is one of location every photographer want to shoot. Using the fountains to frame the tower was something a little different and I'm sure I wasn't the first to do that. Its a location where you try to put your own spin on it. I love shooting my own home city in the evening and while in Paris I wanted to capture its most famous site at this time of the day.Editing
I always shoot in RAW so of course post-processing is used. I try to keep images natural but will always enhance the areas that make it more appealing to the eye. All my images start life in Lightroom, but I often use Photoshop and Nik before returning to Lightroom for final tweaks and output. I have spent many years perfecting my workflow but I am also not afraid to try new things and ideas on my images. In my camera bag
These days my camera bag consists of my Sony A7RII, my 24-70 F4 Sony Lens, Sony G Master 70-200 F4 and a Sigma 30m Art Lens. I also have a wired trigger for tripod use, my 2 main filter are my CPL filter and 10 Stopper for long exposure work. Other than that its generally cleaning cloths and batteriesFeedback
My advice to capture this is to try and go off season when there is less tourists at the site so you can have time to plan the shot, but do be careful as to check the fountains are running. If I was shooting this again I would now use multiple exposures to help control the lighting.
