Following a stormy sunrise at the hotspot Surfers' Point, in Ventura, Calif., stacks of mysterious rocks remain impeccably still at water's edge, precariously balanced upon one another against the forces of coastal winds and the lapping of ocean water while groups of surfers catch chilled morning waves in Pierpont Bay. Known as cairns (Scottish Gaelic: cárn) throughout history, these totemic creations occasionally appear along coastlines, often created by rock stack artists. Here and there these stacks are found as markers for less travelled hiking trails, as well or simply felt as a symbol of positive energy. Sitting amongst these artsy 3-foot formations I couldn't help but mutter to myself "Ok, I swear that one moved and is about to topple..." However, this collection was here for nearly an entire day.

Super shot, very serene just looking at them balancing like that, defying gravity.
