Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Victoria Park in East London.

Time

This photo was taken a few years ago, early in the morning. First days of very cold weather in London. I remember waking up quite early, dressing up in several layers and taking the short bus ride, a distance which I would normally walk. It was too cold to walk! I knew the temperature will rise in the next couple of hours and frost will melt in the sun, I had to make sure I'll get to the park quite early. I got there around 7, just before sunrise.

Lighting

Early morning sun was the only light used on this picture.

Equipment

I've used Nikon d7100, 50 mm lens Nikon, hand held.

Inspiration

I was trying to capture freezing weather conditions and see what sort of pictures I could take with my new lens.

Editing

I usually retouch pictures a bit more, but I used only colour balance and contrast.

In my camera bag

I have upgraded my equipment since this picture has been taken. I use Nikon D7200, Nikkor 18-35 mm and Tokina 11-16 mm- my favourite lens. I take more long exposure pictures, so a tripod is always in my bag as ND filters. I have 8 and 10 stops and also variable one; 2-10 stops.

Feedback

Get up early, go for a walk and observe the world around you. There are so many beautiful little details, which we don't notice in our busy lives. The world can be beautiful if we stop for a second and just observe it. And yeah, try to capture what you see!
