with long lens try to use available afternoon light at angle instead of straight above ..afternoon..manual focus and take a lot of shots!! maybe one wil be good, to awkward to drag around tripod so hold camera steady and shoot away..pay attention to background and I try not to include any man made objects in viewfinder..always take camera with you when going around town and always look for good habitat..i am always scanning around for good photo opportunity..while on chemo use to just travel backroads with camera slowly looking for wildlife and flower patches..took many good photos from truck!! was too sick to get out for more than a second..
