Behind The Lens

Location

The Photo was taken on Dartmoor National Park.

Time

I was out shooting one evening with my two dogs Aysha & Maizy, I remember thinking to myself, I would like a HDR in Black & White, it was quite a Cloudy Afternoon, so I knew the cloud would add to the effect I wanted, it was on January 10th 2015 @ 15.13 That I created the shot I wanted..

Lighting

Being a Overcast day added to the Lighting effect i need..

Equipment

The camera I used was a Panasonic Lumix GX7, with a Panasonic Vario Lumix 7-14mm lens, i kept my Polariser on, ISO was 125 & Shutter speed 1/10, Focal length 12mm, F4. My Tripod i use is a Manfrotto, and i also use a remote so as not to cause any Movement while shooting the Image.

Inspiration

I had been on Bonehill quite a few times Prior to taking this shot, so knew roughly, where i wanted the Girls to sit, they had also been through a couple of boggy Areas, which had made them wet, this also gave Texture to the Image on their Fur.

Editing

I post process in Photomatix, then transfer into Photoshop, Then i use the Blend Modes and levels, i also use Topaz, to finish of more often than not..

In my camera bag

I seem to take everything when i go out doing my Photography, My bag consists of: Panasonic GX7 Olympus OMD -E5 Mark 11 - Just Bought Panasonic varios Lumix 7-14mm Panasonic Leica F25mm Olympus Macro F60mm Panasonic Lumix 100-300mm Panasonic F20mm Remote for Both camera's SD cards - 5x ranging from 4gb - 16gb Extra Batterys Tripod x 2 if needed - Manfrotto & Vitruvian Gloves Hat.

Feedback

Not all subjects are suitable for HDR, I look for Interesting Clouds and subjects, you need the subjects to be still or you get Movement when blending in Photomatix you can also use Photoshop as they have their own take on HDR in Automate, I experiment with 3-5-7 exposures for the contrasts.. I still have a lot to Learn, but Practise makes perfect as they say..
