Location
This photo was taken in Saint Andrews, NB, CATime
This photo was taken at 3:30pm.Lighting
The lighting on this day wasn't the greatest photography. When I found this scene however, the contrast between the ocean/sky and the boat made for the perfect image. Even on raining and dark days there is still possibility to use light to your advantage. It may just take a different point of view.Equipment
For this photo I simply used a Canon 7d and a 100-400L lens.Inspiration
My inspiration came from the amazing light on the boat. As I approached this scene the power in the sky seemed to join together with the power in the ocean. The boat was as bright as shown in the image and all I had to do was compose this scene correctly.Editing
I used very little saturations and de-noising for the post-processing.In my camera bag
My bag carries a Canon 7d, !00-400L lens, 17-40L lens, 1.4 convertor, 430ex 2 flash, bounce flash system, imaingo, cords for computer, manfrotto tripod with gimbal and ball head, various cleaning supplies and extra batteriesFeedback
Things to keep in mind when photographing a scene like this are composition, angles, exposure and metering, to name a few. It is important to take your time and capture exactly what you see so post processing doesn't have to be too heavy. I took various angle shots to get it right and am always playing with exposures on darker scenes such as this. Proper metering will play a part with possible AE locking.
