Death is the most important innovation of life. Life invented programmed death as the best way for staying alive. Ancestral forms of life were essentially immortals. Some bacteria in theory still are. But immortal life has not incentives for reproduction and so, since cataclysms, changes in environment and predators can destroy all similar individuals, immortal life is more prone to extinction. Thus, life invented programmed death as the best way to foster reproduction, the production of new individuals, of new ideas. Producing as much “ideas” (genetic combinations) as possible is the only way to achieve diversity. For without diversity any ecosystem collapses. The biosphere as a whole cannot be maintained without diversity, without the constant production of new different individuals. So life invented death as the best way for remaining alive.
— Opportunely, this strange obstinacy of life -a chemical system- for staying alive and endure throughout the time, perfectly reflects the human desire of eternity.
— It is a privilege to be conscious in this Universe, to stay alive in this particular planet and to share it with so many goodly creatures. And ravens are one of the most clever creatures on Earth.

The effect is dizzying. Love it!

Thanks, Hillcl. The effect is thanks to the new "Clear View" of the last version of DXO OPTICS PRO (RAW converter), a powerful newly invented function that eliminates very easily the fog and haze and increases the microcontrast, given the images a kind of a 3D effect.

Behind The Lens

Location

In Madrid's Sierra National Park, after climbing a few hours to reach a quite vertical peak above the forest.

Time

It was close to noon.

Lighting

Just sun's light

Equipment

The camera was a Canon EOS 70D, and the lens a Canon 70-300 4-5.6f L IS USB, a very good "compact" and light zoom lens.

Inspiration

Death is the most important innovation of life. Life invented programmed death as the best way for staying alive. Ancestral forms of life were essentially immortals. Some bacteria in theory still are. But immortal life has not incentives for reproduction and so, since cataclysms, changes in environment and predators can destroy all similar individuals, immortal life is more prone to extinction. So life invented the programmed death as the best way to foster reproduction, the production of new individuals, of new ideas. Producing as much “ideas” (genetic combinations) as possible is the only way to achieve diversity. For without diversity any ecosystem collapses. The biosphere as a whole cannot be maintained without diversity, without the constant production of new different individuals. So life invented death as the best way for remaining alive (opportunely, this strange obstinacy of life, a chemical? system, for staying alive perfectly reflects the human desire of eternity). ........................................................................................................................................................................................ It is a privilege to be conscious in this Universe, to stay alive in this particular planet and to share it with so many goodly creatures. And ravens are one of the most clever animals on Earth.

Editing

No post processing in Photoshop. Just the depth effect was obtained thanks to the aperture of the lens and the new "Clear View" function of the last version of DXO OPTICS PRO (a RAW converter). This is a powerful recently invented function that eliminates very easily the fog and haze and increases the microcontrast, given the images a kind of a 3D effect.

In my camera bag

The mentioned camera and lens, plus Sigma 50f Art and Sigma 18-35 Art lenses

Feedback

Just walk and walk having your camera always prepared, hanging from your neck... If you do not find good scenes, at least you will be in shape. Keep walking until you find the scene you like. As Picasso said, "Inspiration does exists, but it has to find you working"... Or walking! Keep walking.
