This photo was taken at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Columbus, Ohio. I used to work there. I'm actually to go back to working there when they're allowed to reopen. Can't wait!Time
I remember it was the end of the day, and I was walking through the zoo getting ready to leave for the day. The snow leopard was out so I stopped to get a few photos. It was around 5:30pm. Closing and opening hours are usually the best times to catch the animals out. This was my favorite image from that day.Lighting
To be honest the lighting wasn't very good, but I was able to make good use of the available light to capture this image.Equipment
I took this using my Nikon D7100 and my Nikkor 70-300mm lens. It was handheld.Inspiration
Snow Leopards are one of my favorite animals. I spent many days trying to catch him out so I could capture his magnificent beauty. I have lots of photos of him, but this is my favorite.Editing
I don't really like to manipulate my images as I believe it should be kept the way you captured it. All I did was crop and sharpen a little. In my camera bag
I have since upgraded to digital so these days I have my trusty Nikon D7100. I always have a Nikon 50mm lens, a Nikon 28-105mm lens, and a Nikon 70-300mm lens in my bag. In addition I always have my Nikon N75 film body as well. My lenses are interchangeable between the two camera bodies which is great because I still enjoy using film.Feedback
For starters if you are trying to capture something like this in a zoo setting, the best times to go are early in the morning when they open or in the evening near closing time. That's when the animals are most active. Lighting in zoo settings can be tricky sometimes so it's important to understand how to take photos when the lighting isn't that great.
