Location
I was visiting our daughter & son in-law's home in Waller, Texas. The area is beautiful ranch & farmland. Early one morning this beautiful sunrise appeared.Time
I was up very early on this gorgeous morning about 5 AM or so listening to the sounds of nature and the livestock on the neighboring ranches and just as the sun came up over the horizon I was able to make this (one of my favorite) image.Lighting
Mornings like this remind me me of younger days and the fresh outlook of a new day. It is a feeling and time of day I was hoping I could capture and share with the proper light and colors. The cloud cover and sunlight coming through the golden hour atmosphere was perfect and I'm very happy with the outcome of the image.Equipment
This was shot on a Pentax K5IIs and an 18mm lens.Inspiration
I love nature and wide open spaces along with golden hour light, I had not previously been to this area and love exploring new places. The rising sun and atmospheric conditions made for beautiful light bouncing of the morning grasses and I am most always inspired by the natural beauty nature provides.Editing
Actually this image took very little post processing and was all done in Lightroom in just a few minutes. I use photoshop and lightroom for most all of my PP and try to get the image done right in the camera so PP is quick and painless. In my camera bag
I use Pentax equipment a K5 & K5IIs with many lenses primes and zooms. I always have 2 tripods, ND filters, polarizers, 2 speedlights, and extra batteries and memory cards. I try to pre-plan my shoots and load my bags accordingly.Feedback
My best advice is to take advantage of Golden Hour light whenever you can, of course get to know your equipment settings and practice, practice and shoot some more ! Try to be creative and don't be afraid to try new things, get low, move forward move backward mix it up and shoot some more. I know it sounds repetitive, but for me I love photography and this has been my best formula for success. Get up early and stay up late.
