This is the "Robber Fly" I captured this detailed image in my backyard while I was out setting up for some Hummingbird shot. The morning light just seemed to bring out the inticate details.Time
This is one of my favorite images and I remember taking this shot early to mid morning just as the sun began to illuminate my back yard area. It was beyond golden hour but back lit the subject nicely.Lighting
I wanted to bring out the details as I was seeing them so I positioned myself with the sun behind the Robbe Fly or the shot certainly would not have shown all the details I was seeing.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Pentax K5 with a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 lens and a CPL filter mounted on my Tripod.Inspiration
I am always inspired here on Viewbug by the amazing photography work and especially in the Macro world and I knew when I spotted this insect in this light I had to try and get the shot ! So far it is my best Macro photograph :)Editing
I use Adobe PS and Lightroom for most of my PP. This particular image took very little tweaking of the sliders, mainly some sharpening & clarity and I had it !In my camera bag
In my bag I usually always have two camera bodies my Pentax K5, K5IIs and sometimes now my Pentax K3 I also like to carry a f1.8 50mm Prime my DA* 300mm prime an 16-50mm f2.8 zoom, 70-200 2,8 and a 1.4 Teleconverter. of course extra batteries and my tripod.Feedback
Of course lighting is very important but get to know your camera and settings you want a fast shutter speed in good light watch your depth of field especially for Macro shots as you want the subject to be in focus and also a good solid tripod is essential along with a 2 second delay or a cable release to keep everything steady ! Practice, practice and keep shooting :)
