Great macro shot combined with beautiful lighting, sharper than sharp clarity. Visually stunning.

Behind The Lens

Location

This is the "Robber Fly" I captured this detailed image in my backyard while I was out setting up for some Hummingbird shot. The morning light just seemed to bring out the inticate details.

Time

This is one of my favorite images and I remember taking this shot early to mid morning just as the sun began to illuminate my back yard area. It was beyond golden hour but back lit the subject nicely.

Lighting

I wanted to bring out the details as I was seeing them so I positioned myself with the sun behind the Robbe Fly or the shot certainly would not have shown all the details I was seeing.

Equipment

This photo was shot with a Pentax K5 with a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 lens and a CPL filter mounted on my Tripod.

Inspiration

I am always inspired here on Viewbug by the amazing photography work and especially in the Macro world and I knew when I spotted this insect in this light I had to try and get the shot ! So far it is my best Macro photograph :)

Editing

I use Adobe PS and Lightroom for most of my PP. This particular image took very little tweaking of the sliders, mainly some sharpening & clarity and I had it !

In my camera bag

In my bag I usually always have two camera bodies my Pentax K5, K5IIs and sometimes now my Pentax K3 I also like to carry a f1.8 50mm Prime my DA* 300mm prime an 16-50mm f2.8 zoom, 70-200 2,8 and a 1.4 Teleconverter. of course extra batteries and my tripod.

Feedback

Of course lighting is very important but get to know your camera and settings you want a fast shutter speed in good light watch your depth of field especially for Macro shots as you want the subject to be in focus and also a good solid tripod is essential along with a 2 second delay or a cable release to keep everything steady ! Practice, practice and keep shooting :)
