Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a beach in Pringle bay, at sunset. Pringle bay is a small coastal town in the Western Cape of South Africa.

Time

I didn't plan this photo. Our family went to the beach just before sunset and I played around with the exposure and took about 100 photos of the scenes on the beach. This was one of them.

Lighting

The light was wonderful at sundown and I focused the camera on the beach and waves to get not only the golden sunset light, but also the reflection of it on the beach.

Equipment

I used a canon EOS 650D with a 18-25mm lens.

Inspiration

For me moments inspire photos. Whether I am in nature somewhere, with my family on vacation or even just at home having fun; beauty, hope, joy or even sadness have the ability to aspire and move people. I was lucky when that young girl stood at the water line holding her boogie board and I simply took the shot.

Editing

Yes, I enhanced the contrast and backlight a little.

In my camera bag

My camera, a canon EOS 650D. Then I have a number of lenses : a 70-300mm lens, a 18-200mm lens and a 60mm macro lens.

Feedback

I am going to be completely honest when I say there doesn't go much planning into my photos I just take the shot and hope that I have captured the emotion or the beauty to the best of my ability. My advise is to never lose your passion to capture life and this world with in its many ways. Take as many photos a day as you can, because as someone ones said: "Every sixty seconds a minute passes" and the sad thing is; we will never have that moment again unless we capture it.
