Location
This photo was taken in the old part of Nuuk, Greenland. Nuuk is the capital of Greenland and this is one of the oldest parts of the city.Time
This photo i taken around 23 o'clock. In the late fall and winter the Northern Lights are very often right over the city so we are a bunch of photographers that cruces the city to find the best place for shots of the Aurora Borealis.Lighting
This image is the last one i an serie og 50 photos. I was waiting for the Aurora to get closer to the city but instead it kept moving higer and further away.Equipment
This image was shot with my Nikon D750 with a Nikkor 14-24 @14mm all mounted on my Gizzo tripod.Inspiration
The year before this shot(cristmas 2014) i photographed the same part of the city but without Northern Lights, but with lots og cristmas lightning in the windows, since then i have been wanting to get a shot with the Northern Lights and the city. I'm still looking forward to get another one with more Aurora Borealis....Editing
I normaly dont use a lot of time on postprocessing and this is no exception. I changed the White Balance in the city lights and added a bit of clarity and vibrance. In my camera bag
My go to kit for Aurora Borealis photos are: my Nikon D750 with a Nikkor 14-24mm and my Gizzo tripod. Lately i have purchased a remote control so that i can release the shutter without pushing the camera.Feedback
My best tip for others wanting to photograph the Aurore Borealis is: Warm clothes and extra batteries inside your jacket - you are going to be outside in -10 to -20 degrees for several hours so your batteries are not going to last very long if you cant keep them warm.
