This photo was actually taken in the avory at the Calgary zoo in Calgary Alberta CanadaTime
The Majority of the photographs of animals and birds are taken at low to medium light times first thing in the morning is BestLighting
Lighting when photographing wildlife is very important To much light and the photos are distorted and over-exposed I find this time of the day works very well for me , The low light in the evening works quie well also,light is very ImportantEquipment
The Camera that took this photo was a EOS Rebel T5i,the lense used was a 70-300 zoom lens,with Image Stablization,I find it very important to be able to counteract the movement of the camera with photographing wild-life, especially in difficult situation as glass reflection and thick bars, the steadier the camera the better for clarity and quality of the photo,The photo was taken, hand-held, I use my body to control shake, a tripod is useful,but if you dont have one your body is the next best thing,I like to use stationary objects like trees fences,anything that will hold your camera steady.Inspiration
Its so exciting to go and see the owls,they fly around the enclosure,sometimes they fly right over the top of your head, its a challenge and Love the challange,lots of movement,especially if there are young owls around,It was first thing in the morning when I took this photo, the light was so nice,so soft,and believe it or not the owl was sitting right in front of me about 5 feet away it was the perfect photo opportunity,these,are very far and in-between,its that very special moment when you KNOW you have a wonderful photo opportunity,Editing

I had one lense at that time,my camera was hand-held,I find that I DONT carry alot of extra lenses,just the Nessesities,camera lense cloth,When your working your camera around a very busy place,there is a chance that you could leave your equipment somewhere,this is not what you want to happenFeedback
I cant stress more when you take photographs,Lighting,Stablization of your camera very little movement,everything comes to play here,adjusting you light setting of your Iso setting on your camera, play around with your Iso settings is also great to do, use your camera adjust your white balances,shoot your camera using your profile setting Landscape setting, Enjoy your camera,your camera is a wonderful piece of equipment,experiment,dont Be afraid to try things new,who knows the effects that you get may surprize you,I have one last thing to mention you have been given and wonderful gift here Photography,is a god given gift, please use this time in your life to forfill your DREAM>
