The Photo that has been selected was taken at the Calgary Zoo in Calgary Alberta Canada,This was a very special photo shoot for me,and it took many occasions to get a photo that would finally make me Happy I have photographed animals all my life,about 40 years now ,photographing these beautiful creatures , was the High-light of my day, That million dollar shot I know every-one has experienced this more than once,I photograph all these incredible animals at the Calgary Zoo and believe it or not I donate the photos to the Zoo so they can use them on the social media ,it is deep in my heart that I want to HELP, These animals need to be Feed and Cared for and they have some of the most wonderful Zoo- keepers in the World,I know this because I see them all the time.Time
This shot here was taken first thing in the morning ,theres a very special time its called the Golden hour, and this was taken in the summer shortly after the sun came up the lighting is wonderful ,no bright direct light.,and shadows and dark areas were not around yet.Lighting
First thing in the morning is when the baby tigers were out with Mom, you know I spent weeks trying to get that perfect photo,This one day I arrived at the Zoo early so I could set up and get ready for my photo -shoot, you know when something or some-one is looking at you, you get that feeling well I looked over to the den and sure enough there was a baby tiger looking at me I was SHOCKED,To date I was the only person to see them what a Honour , The first sighting was One baby then shortly after two wondered out of the DEN AND THE REST WAS HISTORY,THIS EVERY-ONE WAS A LIGHT-BULB MOMENT,I was so happy it happened to me,I take my Animal photography Very Seriosly,its Very Important to me.Equipment
At The time I was using a Canon Rebel T5I,this was my wild-life camera I trusted it when I needed the shots,All my wild-life photos are hand-held,I used a 70-300 Canon Zoom Lense, this was the lense that took many of the photos that I have posted on view-bugInspiration
The Love of the Endangered species, these animals are very Special to me, they are my lifeEditing
This is the actual photo that I took there was no touching up.In my camera bag
When I photograph animals the camera and the lense, and a lense cloth are the only things I carry with me, the tripod is my body, I dont carry a camera bag around in fear that I might loose it,not a Good thingFeedback
The most important thing to remember,is not to be in a Hurry You need Patients, and dont rush, sometimes I am at a photo-site for hours just to capture that on photo that will make your day use all your experience use shutter-speed, use aperature priority, change Iso, work your camera,the one great thing about digital cameras is that the photos that dont turn out you can delete, you know I have been taking photos for many years and I still am learning lots its a life time of learning
