The sun was nearly over head giving everything a very flat and hard light. However the scale and size of the rocks made for good texture.Equipment

We were on a boat tour going out to a local dive spot. Things just kind of worked out spontaneously. I could see this hulking chunk of rock towering out of the ocean as we approached. I took many photos, but nothing with much focus. It wasn't until we rounded the second most western peninsula of the island that I saw the man standing on the low ground near us. I just pointed and started snapping.Editing
Minor exposure adjustments in Lightroom. Its actually a panorama of 2 stitched images. I lucked out considering I had no tripod and I was shooting from a fast moving boat.In my camera bag

Its hard for me to give advice on these sorts of shots. I don't actually photograph landscapes much. I guess the best piece of advice is to have your camera handy at all times. I distinctly remember considering not bringing my camera that day.
