SO well deserved. My favorite bird of prey. A simply stunningly beautiful photograph. Am planning a trip to go camping on the Isle of Mull in June to see these huge beasts fledge from their nests, camp under the stars and simply be free!!! A photo which deserves every award possible. I really really love this.

Bird photography is a very difficult thing to accomplish well. Nice tack sharp photos are very hard to come buy. When I grow up I want to have more like yours.

Location
This photo was taken in Hartobagy National Park in Hungary, on a cold and chilly day.Time
We had been waiting for a while to see the eagles, but for a long while we had only seen Gulls and hooded crows and then suddenly from nowhere the eagles appearedLighting
We had a great morning with a harsh frost on the ground and it was just after sunrise - so we had some lovely golden light.Equipment
I had a 300mm F2.8 lens with a 1.4 converter on, with a Canon 70d camera mounted on a tripod.Inspiration
I think eagles in flight are one of the hardest shots - but i wanted to get one of these 'flying barn doors' in full flight mode - they are huge!Editing
Basic sharpening and a slight crop was all that was needed in post processingIn my camera bag
Canon 70 d, 300mm lens, 1.4 converter and a 70-200 lens. Plus usual lens wipes, spare batteries and cards.Feedback
Be prepared for how wide a birds wings will go - otherwise you will end up cutting some of the bird off. Birds alway tend to go to the bathroom before they fly, and they go slightly up and then drop as they take off. It worth watching how they behave to get the shot you want.
