Location
In a Panama City, Panama. In my brother's apartment. :DTime
Not so early in the morning, around 11am.Lighting
Lightning was kind of tricky in this one. I was shooting the couple against a window, exactly where all the light was coming form, so in order to avoid having silhouettes instead of well lit people I needed to get another source of light, preferably a front one. I didn't bring any flashes or reflectors along , so I built a reflector out satin sheets, reflective craft paper and a cardboard.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, with a Canon 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, with a tripod and filterless. Also a built reflector, but no flash.Inspiration
I was taking their pictures as a favor to them, normal colorful portraits, but I really like their chemistry together, and the way they look next to each other, so I took advantage of that and created a small plot around a love affair, a lesbian one, a kind off forbidden one. The cool thing is that they played along quite nicely. I thing I had a nice dose of naughtiness and playfulness, along with the adequate locaiton, that end up inspiring me to shoot them in this mini love story.Editing
I shoot the image in black and white, but did some changes in tones and contrast in post-processing, along with the soft focus look I gave it. I wanted it to be kind of a high-key portrait, with very white whites and no so dark black or grey tones. For my advantage their makeup was flawless but I did wanted to cleane up a bit their skins, in case I wanted it to be published by some magazine later on.In my camera bag
I upgraded to a Canon 6D since this photo was taken, so I carry that instead, along with a Canon 24-105 f4L, a Canon 100 2.8L IS macro, a Sigma 35 1.4 DG arts and a Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX APO DG lenses. Also, polarized filters for each lens, a Neewer speedlite, a YongNuo ring flash, a couple of diffusers, some remote triggers, and a reflector.Feedback
Don't hesitate to create anything that would help you get the image right, as I did when I put together a reflector to get the proper lighting. It could be a reflector, a tripod, a light source, a rain coat, special filters, you name it, creativity, for me, is a big part of photography.
