Behind The Lens

Location

I was at Granite Reef in Mesa, Arizona. This is along the Lower Salt River.

Time

This was at Sunset. Approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 12, 2013.

Lighting

This is Ambient lighting. I wanted a peaceful feeling from this.

Equipment

I used a Canon 60D with a 24-70 lens. No tripod, it was handheld.

Inspiration

This is a favorite spot of mine to shoot sunsets. It is very peaceful and quiet here. I was looking around for a Zen-like scene and this is what I found.

Editing

There was no post-processing, this was straight out of the camera.

In my camera bag

I have my Canon 60D, a Tamron 24-70 and a Canon 70-200 prime, 2X extender, a Shutterboss, always backup batteries, a cloth to clean the lenses, if needed. I have a peice of X-Ray film for an eclipse. I carry a set of Macro tubes also.

Feedback

I do use a tripod more now for a cleaner picture. I shot more into the water so that Sun was just a hint, it seems like the lower the Sun is, the more golden the water will be. It is best if the water is calm.
