This is just lovely. The dark blue of the water is quite unusual and beautiful contrasted with the snow.

Location
The photo was taken near my home at a river that runs under the main road. This was the beautiful aftermath of a huge snow storm we had in northern New Jersey at the beginning of the 2014-2015 winter season.Time
I was driving around 10 am when I came across this river. The cloudy sky and snow filled trees created a perfect background to this very still river.Lighting
NoneEquipment
This was shot utilizing my Nikon D700, with a Nikon 14mm-23mm Wide angle zoom lens. I shot this hand held at a focal length of 23 mm, aperture:f/2.8 with an exposure:1/50 at f/16.Inspiration
The inspiration for this shot was stillness of the river and the beauty of the surrounding area. I've lived near here since 2009 and each winter is more and more beautiful.Editing
Post-Processing was done in Lightroom. I used Lightroom to enhance the blues and removal of other colors from dead leaves on some trees in the background. I also removed some spots and other unwanted elements from the scene. In my camera bag
I normally carry my Nikon D700, Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens for all around use, Nikon 14mm-23mm f/2.8 lens for landscape and architecture shots (used here), and my Sigma 50mm-500mm f/5.6 zoom lens for sports and nature photographs.Feedback
To try and capture a snow scene like this you must get out as soon as the snow stops or as early the following day as possible.
