Behind The Lens

Location

Columbia, South America

Time

Evening late afternoon

Lighting

I know some make fun of the plastic pink flamingo by the pond but I wanted to show just how very beautiful this bird is and why it became a trend for a while...for some it always will be.

Equipment

Hand held Nikon D7000

Inspiration

The colors and reflection were at their peak.

Editing

No not much to any of my photo's. I believe in a true capture and although HDR, stacking and the rest of the manipulations don't do photography justice.

In my camera bag

D600 Nikon 24-85mm 3.5-4.5G ED, 35-70 f/2.8D Nikon 70-300 VR, Nikon 28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.8D, 80/200 f/2.8D, 105 f/2.8D, 24mm f/2.8, Sigma 150/500. I rarely use a flash but then again I do most of my shooting in nature or just the great outdoors. D7000 backup.

Feedback

Just look around you and visualize what will show up in your picture. Look at the background and if it won't work but is still a lovely shot take it anyway. You always have the post process to clean it up. I usually walk away and look for something else. I usually shoot 200-300 photos a day when I am traveling and maybe 40-50 just out for a couple of hours bike riding, scuba diving, kayaking and one of my favorite times to shoot is when it is snowing and I have my snowshoes on and my camera backpack with me on the trails and even through some tricky steep icy areas. I always hope that my results exceed my expectations.
