By the time that I took this photo the kill was about three days old. It was in the region of 44°C or 111°F, and by this time it was covered with blow flies and smelt very rank but it was a shot just waiting to be taken.
The leopard is the most secretive and elusive of the large carnivores, it is also the shrewdest. Pond for pound, it is the strongest climber of the large cats and capable of killing prey larger than itself.
