Your battle was worth the effort. This is an amazing capture and use of leading lines, great sense of depth, foreground interest, mid-ground eye contact, and background interest in the mountains and sky. Amazing light and shadow and reflections. This has the potential of being a contest winner.

OMGosh! I saw this in amongst your others & instantly knew exactly where it was in the world because I have stood in the exact same spot & taken the exact same lakescape! this is 'home sweet home' for me & I know the Nelson Lakes National Park like the back of my hand! born & bred from that 'neck of the woods' & have hiked every track around the lakes, up the valley's & across the mountain tops in that beautiful place. needless to say, I have stayed in almost every hut there is & some that are not there now. I have hundreds of photos & have not just walked the tracks but canoed, kayaked, water taxied & swum on both lakes dozens of times........I'm now going straight to you profile to see where you're from! I have lived in Australia for 14 years but the Nelson District was my home for 50 years before that. In fact we are flying over in 3 days time as my cherished 90yr old mother is very unwell. might see you on the jetty at lake Rotoiti! Aren't the sand flies horrendous but once I camped there with a friend & we had not only sand flies but bees, wasps & flies as well! (((: p.s. I just supposed you were American........don't know why!
