Location
This photo was shot on a footbridge in Worcestershire, the bridge crosses the river Teme at Knightwick.Time
this was taken at around 8pm, the sun had set about an hour and half earlier. It had just finished raining so the conditions and time was perfect!Lighting
i needed the image to be shot at night so that you can get the full effect of the lit wire wool. There was no moon or any artificial lighting present as this was shot in the middle worcestershire beautiful countryside. the main light source we can see is coming from the lit wire wool, with that reflecting off of the puddles of water left from a downpour an hour before. These combined made this shot truly spectacular!Equipment
it was shot using: Nikon D7000, Nikon 18-105mm lens, Tripod (manfrotto art 055) metal dog chain, 0000 grade wire wool, a metal kitchen whisk and a 5v battery.Inspiration
I had been looking to do some wire wool spinning after reading an article about it in a well known camera magazine. I scouted out several different locations that included, disused quarries and abandoned buildings. The footbridge i took this on is not far from my house and the idea popped into my head... the bridge is made from metal and there is a flowing river underneath, i waited for it to rain and to be dark at the same time, i actually waited for three weeks to be able to take the shot as we were going through a dry spell. I'm very glad that i waited as this shot would not have been so effective dry.Editing

in my bag i usually keep, my Nikon D7000, nikon 55-300 Nikon 18-105 lens, nikon 50mm 1.8, nikon 35mm 1.8, nikon SB700, SD cards, Torch, lens cleaning kit,Feedback
Fine grade steel wool (0000 is best), a metal whisk, a dog lead (metal is best), lighter or 5v D battery to light it! Stretch the steel wool apart without ripping it (maximises the area so that the oxygen can react with the lit wool), safety first! Wear goggles and appropriate clothing! Camera settings: I used a nikon D7000, 18-105mm f3.5 at 15secs. Manual focus! The best and easiest way to focus is have your helper stand in position and shine a torch to their face, and focus on that! Light the wool and spin, you can spin in any position you can, I used above the head for this shot 'halo effect'. Set shutter release for a 2sec timer, unless you have a remote shutter! And bam, presto etc, awesome shots! You can play with the timings but I recommend at least 10 seconds so that you capture the trails! Good luck and safety first!! :)
