This shot was taken I'm my dining room at home. I'm always playing about with my camera trying out new styles, so i shoot wherever and whenever i can.Time
My daughter had just finished school, it was early evening and i had my camera out as usual. I asked her if i can try a few shots for a layer project i was thinking about.Lighting
the light was natural, early evening dying sunlight. The dim lit room adds to the mystique of looking very 'dreamlike' and was perfect for the layered challenge i had envisioned.Equipment
i used my trusty Nikon D7000 with my stock 18-105mm lens, for the importance of the shot i used my tripod and my IR shutter release to avoid movement and vibration. the light is natural early evening light.Inspiration
My Daughter is a Harry Potter obsessive and I'm an experimental self taught photographer. I first thought of this concept when researching layers and composition shots. I wanted to bring my daughters passion for Harry Potter and magic to life, this shot portrays the wonderful belief in magical properties with the help of some digital manipulation.Editing
i took many images to stack them for this shot, i enhanced the clarity to help with the 'dreamlike state'. once i was happy i stacked the images and removed the body parts which held up the 'floating' books. In my camera bag

patience and an eye for detail... I didn't anticipate how long this took to complete, from set up to saving the image took a few hours. because i used natural light, i only had a small window of time to take the shots as light levels change dramatically from minute to minute, and i desperately wanted to convey a little realism (and magic) to this idea. after taking the shots i had the tedious task of stacking the image in photoshop and removing all unwanted detail (and believe me removing the deal from around the pages took its time).
