Another stunning capture. Love the depth and composition. The lighting is perfect and really adds to the shadowwing on the trunks.

Behind The Lens

Location

Location is in a place called Bartram's Garden, which is the first formal garden in the USA. Bartram's is sadly located in one of the roughest neighborhoods in Philadelphia, which probability deters many people from going there.

Time

Around noon. I go there at various times of the year during my lunch hour.

Lighting

Simple strong sunlight. I've often read about the troubles in shooting in high, bright sun but in this case I think it works.

Equipment

Nikon d5200. Tokina 116 ProDX lens. Focal length 11-16 f2.8. I believe I shot this at 11mmwith a circular polarizer.

Inspiration

I just like fall colors and there are relatively few places within the City of Philadelphia to see them, especially since I work full time and have little time to venture out to the surrounding areas for some really stunning fall colors. Besides, I had nothing better to do during my lunch hour!

Editing

Some, yes. Photoshop was used to punch up the blacks and enhance the yellow leaves and blue sky.

In my camera bag

The camera, the above lens, and the Nikkor 18-55mm and 55-300 kit lenses. Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 for pretty good bokeh (for a cropped sensor) and an external flash but I rarely use that for my landscapes. Also spare memory cards because I shoot all RAW and a half-decent tripod.

Feedback

This is my first "grownup" digital camera and I've found that, even with my old point and shoots as well as my Nikon, it's more on how you can frame your subject and learning how to utilize any and all settings on whatever camera you use. I've gotten GREAT shots from a then nine year old 3 megapixel point and shoot. I still have that camera!
