Behind The Lens

Location

The Photowas taken In Varenna Italy on a wedding shoot ,this was on the lake where the bride and groom had supplied a large boat to take the guests on a journey around most of the lake .

Time

I think it was around 14-1430, quite a cool wind but a bright sunny day ,the morning had been very wet and overcast but this all moved over once the wedding began, lucky really.

Lighting

The lighting is all natural, such a lovely sun and brightness to the lake area that no additional lighting would have helped, including the fact the lighting was in the hotel room on shore so natural it was.

Equipment

It was with a Canon 7D and if i remember right it was a Sigma 18-250 mm lens

Inspiration

I loved the occasion and how many time would I get an opportunity to shoot on a boat ,in Italy with a superb backdrop and a stunning model/guest , It all seemed to fit together perfectly, bouncy boat didn't help but I managed to steady myself

Editing

Some slight touch ups but nothing to severe ,Changed the colour image to Blk/White as the is suited the image better and created a sort of dated look which was right for this .most adjustments on Aperture and Nick effex

In my camera bag

&d and several lenses possibly three and speed lights , the bag was left on shore though to prevent me from dropping any of it in the water .

Feedback

To capture this will need a wedding party a boat a model looking the part and a trip to Italy, it is always possible to stage shoots but personally I love the natural look and the way this worked was purely due to being in the right time at the right place with usable conditions, if the weather had not improved this shot would never had taken place as the boat trip was to be shelved and the guests would have stayed in the Hotel on shore ,so to a large part I owe this to Mother nature and her prerogative to change her mind.
