Location
This area is one of my favorite place to visit. This is the South Fork of the Snake River in Eastern Idaho, near Swan Valley Idaho.Time
This photograph was taken at 3:00 p.m. with the sun behind the camera just starting to make some shadows.Lighting
I would of liked to have photographed this landscape a little later in the day but I was dealing with passing clouds that was choking out the light on the colorful trees. The clouds on the horizon said shoot now or miss it all together. I shot several bracketed exposures to ensure the best result with the light I was given. :)Equipment
This photograph was captured with a Nikon D610 mounted with a Nikor 28-300 mm zoom lens, while tethered to a tripod.Inspiration
My inspiration with this photograph stems from my family history. My Great Grandfather used to fish this stretch of the Snake River long before any dams where built. I've slept on it's river banks as a young man as I too have fished these great waters full of huge German Brown trout/Cut Throat trout/and Rainbows... The area has lot's of opportunities to photograph Eagles, Moose, Deer... For myself the South Fork is a photographic paradise.Editing
I used Light room 5 to crop and dodge and burn different areas of the photograph. In my camera bag
My camera bag is as simple as it gets. I keep my spider pro holster with my bag while not using it and inside the bag I have my Nikon D610 with a 28-300 mm zoom lens attached to it. I carry cleaning supplies that include a bulb type air blower (Rocket) along with a small bottle of alcohol and Q-tips. I carry extra batteries and satin cleaning cloths, along with extra SD cards and not to forget my wireless shutter release and my small flashlight.Feedback
The day looked dismal and I almost decided not to photograph at all. I didn't want to drive 3 hours to this location if the weather was going to soak me. Mountainous weather comes and goes on the wind and sometimes we never know what we're gonna get. Take a chance that sometimes you will get a break in the weather and that good things will come. It does happen! :)
