This shot speaks volumes. This shot is real. Your dog comes through the picture. It is almost like seeing the real thing, not just because of the clear shot, but because one can almost "feel" your dog.

Location
This photo was taken in my grandparent's backyard on the north shore of Long Island.Time
It was about two in the afternoon on a warm spring day when we let Hunter outside. All the beagle's we've owned always loved to sit outside in the sun and nap. Each had their own little spot too.Lighting
The lighting was perfect, no clouds and a very bright sun let for some awesome opportunities.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon Rebel T4i and a Canon EF-S 18-135/3.5-5.6 IS Lens.Inspiration
My grandparents had rescued a feral beagle several months after their beagle of eleven years passed away. Unfortunately, the dog they rescued flipped his collar off and ran away. He was never found, but along the way they met some incredible people willing to lend a helping hand. One woman found a small beagle on the side of a highway, and took him in. She couldn't care for him though and offered to let my grandparents foster him to see how it would be for them. We all fell in love instantly with this dog, and just celebrated two years of having Hunter in our lives. I figured I'd try and snap some pictures of Hunter for my grandparents and took this shot!Editing
I slightly adjusted brightness and contrast. In my camera bag
My bag contains most of my equipment. Aside from my camera, I have a EF-S 18-135/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens, EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens, and an EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II Telephoto Zoom Lens. I also have a battery grip on my camera at all times to double battery life. I take my charger and adapter with me, a pelican memory card case, an external flash, a USB card reader, and two UV lenses. Lastly I have a shutter release timer remote which I hope to put to use soon.Feedback
Just get out and shoot your butt off! Taking the perfect picture won't happen on the first try. I've had times where it didn't take me too long to get a nice photo and other times where I spent an hour or more and couldn't get anything worthy. It all comes down to how you envision what you want to capture and where you are, what time it is, etc. Just have fun, explore, and concentrate on what you want to share. The possibilities are endless.
