I took this picture on the steps leading down from Palisade Avenue to the Spuyten Duyvil Metro-North Station in Riverdale, the Bronx, NY.Time
I was heading into work in Manhattan early on a Winter morning. It was quiet on the streets and on the steps. It was a peaceful ten-minute walk from my apartment to the train station on the Hudson.Lighting
The light was exactly as it looks in the photo. It was a foggy morning and the streetlamps along the steps were still on. I noticed the light and lines of the stairs and had to stop and take the picture. I don’t remember if stopping made me miss my train. If it did, it was worth it. I love this photo.Equipment
On a phone camera. I am pretty sure it was an iPhone (but it could have been my old BlackBerry). It was January 2014.Inspiration

None. Just my phone.Feedback
Just keep your eyes open and don’t move too quickly through life. When I walk down the street without my eyes glued to my phone screen, I notice lines and shapes and colors and shadows and clouds, sunrise and sunset. Somehow an image comes into sharp focus and I need to capture it. Those moments make me so happy.
