Location
I took this photo on what is called the "Rathdrum prairie", which is about 5 miles from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and 40 miles east of Spokane, WA. Huge freight trains cross through Idaho on their crossing America.Time
This was taken around 10 a.m. I believe.Lighting
Natural lighting on a beautiful Idaho day. Idaho clouds are often spectacular.Equipment
I used a Sony Nex-6 with a 17-55mm lens. No tripod.Inspiration
This location is one of my favorites spots. It is about 15 minutes from my home in Idaho, and I keep coming back to get different views. When I saw the clouds, I headed out to this location.Editing
The only post-processing I use is the basic sliders on iphoto. The Sony Nex-6 has an in-camera HDR, which I use regularly and did use here.In my camera bag
I carry my Sony Nex-6, four lenses (17-55mm, 50-200mm, 14mm, and fish -eye). I have two extra batteries and memory cards. I also carry cleaning instruments and a tripod and bean bag in my car. I like to shoot with natural light and conditions generally. I don't plan shoots so much as I am an opportunist.Feedback
Look around the environment which is your life. Don't underestimate the potential of a place you have passed a million times and never looked at.
