Location
I took this photo at the beautiful Samphanbok =(Three thousand holes) in Ubon Rachathani, north in Thailand. The Mekong River serves as the border to Laos that we can see in the background in the picture.Time
We arrived at Samphanbok early in the morning and had to walk very far to come to the location. It was hot....about 30 degrees Celcius and it was 8th of March 2014 at 7:14AMLighting
The light that day made the picture more mysterius and was perfect for the story I wanted to tell with the picture.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5D mark III, with an 24-70mm lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
My intention was to take a picture that made people using their fantacy to make their own story from what they see. The makeup, the outfit, the girl, the light, the dry straw and the background from beautiful Samphanbok made my dream possible.Editing
I wanted to use the great light that was there from the beginning, to make the picture even more mysterious and I used Photoshop for this... trying and failing in layers until I got the result I wanted. In my camera bag
For sure I bring my baby , Canon 5D Mark III with me .... and my favorite lenses Canon 24-70mm for portrait and Canon 100mm two make great macro pictures of my small freinds in my garden . My 70-200mm ice always with me and so is my 85mm. I normally never use artificial light so I also bring my gold/silver collapsible reflector.Feedback
To have my photography friends around me, always inspire me to do my best. I'm lycky and feel blessed to have photographers/friends that are very helpful and very giving with their knowlagde. In this way we all get better. For this kind of photo we need a great makeup artis and stylist...and I know some really great ones. This is the Norwegain Hilde Marie Johansens great work. She is the Co-Founder for Scandinavian Makeup Studio in Bangkok, Thailand. Try to learn from the best. Im very proud to say that my mentor and my friend is Manny Libres Librodo.
