Location
I took this photo from the sidewalk in front of my house. Our community sits on a golf course which is filled with a lot of beautiful oak trees.Time
It was around 7:30 on a hot, humid summer night as the sun dipped below the horizon after a wicked rain storm.Lighting
The sun was going down so it was pretty dark out. I used the natural light, without a flash, since I wanted to capture the amazing colors in the sky behind the oak trees. Since it was pretty dark I did bump up the ISO, but kept it as low as I could to minimize the noise.Equipment
I shot this photo with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8, no flash or filtersInspiration
After we get really bad storms here, where I live in Florida, the sunset tends to bring out some amazing colors in the sky. After admiring it for quite some time I realized I needed to try to capture the beauty of the colorful sunset as a backdrop to the silhouette of the massive oak trees on the golf course.Editing
I didn't do much in post processing but, Since it was so dark and I did bump the ISO a bit, I reduced the noise and adjusted the contrast and colors slightly in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I normally have my Canon 5D Mark II in my bag, a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8, EF 24-70mm f/2.8, and a flash. I have other lenses but only pull them out for specific purposes.Feedback
This photo was taken with an ISO of 2000, f/2.8, at 1/160. Wait for the sun to go down and dip below the horizon a bit because it seems to bring out a whole new set of rich colors that don't always appear as the sun first begins to set. Always shoot in RAW.
