This photo was taken from the top of Mt. Evans in the Colorado Rockies. The view behind the bighorn sheep is looking west.Time
I believe this was about 1pm in late June of 2014. We had been out of our car for only a few minutes before this moment presented itself.Lighting
This was one of those Colorado days that everyone hears about. "Just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change". Our drive up to the summit of Mt. Evans was beautiful, sunny and slight breeze. For this photo the sun was very bright and almost no high clouds; only clouds were low as seen in the photo. Within 15 minutes after this photo was taken; clouds moved in, sky darkened, wind came up and it started snowing. Yes, snowing in June!Equipment

The reason we decided to take the trip up to Mt. Evans was to find Rocky Mountain Goats. We have a wildlife "bucket" list of all that we want to photograph and this was the day for Mountain Goats. We did get some decent shots of the Goats, but were pleasantly surprised to find these young Bighorn Sheep up there as well. This photo was the right place and the right time, the Sheep didn't like the attention and left the area quickly.Editing
Basic color correction, sharpened the foreground and Bighorn. Softened the cloudsIn my camera bag

Mt. Evans is a must for anybody visiting the State of Colorado, because it is such a quick trip from Denver. The amount of scenery and wildlife that you will probably see is well worth the drive. The road is a little narrow at the top, but just take it slow and easy. Expect the weather to change quickly and throughout the day; have jackets and hiking shoes/socks. Be prepared for the traffic to be heavy, especially in the middle of summer. Just take it all in and enjoy the view.
