Location
The picture was taken at Ely Cathedral, Lincolnshire, England whilst I was on a motorcycle tour.Time
We called into the cathedral late morning. Beautiful sunny day with just some light high clouds.Lighting
The lighting is natural sunlight, filtered through the cathedrals own stained glass windows.Equipment
As I am touring on the motorbike space is limited, so I can't pack my favourite DSLR. Instead I travel around with a Panasonic Lumix LF1. A great little camera for travelling with. Compact and fits in your pocket. No space even for a small tripod, so all the pictures are hand held.Inspiration
Ely Cathedral is famous for it's majestic ceilings. Whilst there, you have to go and see it. It is easy to buy a postcard of the ceiling but, there is nothing like the sense of capturing the moment that YOU were there. The lighting at that moment was beautiful.Editing
This is as hot, no post processing. That takes too long ..In my camera bag
If I am travelling the Panasonic LF1, if I am going for a dedicated photo shoot then I pack my Canon 5D and whatever lens suits that days project. I usually have the 24-70 f2.8 L and either the 17-35 for architectural shoots or the 70-200 f2.8 L for dance photo shoots.Feedback
Always have a camera with you. It is possible to spend a lot of time setting up the shot, checking the lighting at different times of the day, waiting for the perfect lighting condition. But, for most of us it is about making do with the lighting that is there at the time. Take multiple shots, change settings to find that combination of colour balance and exposure. don't be afraid to lie down on the floor and look up!
