I have been taking photos for about 3 years, more or less self taught, and I took this on my first safari with a camera. It was dull and rainy the whole time we were there so I was very disappointed with the light. However, having been back again I realise that it was probably better than glaring sunshine all day.Time
This photo was taken on the early evening safari.Lighting
As I said earlier the light was dull all day, the sun did not appear the whole 48 hours of our trip.Equipment
As a beginner I had a Canon 600D, a 100-400 lens, and a bean bag lying on the side of the jeep.Inspiration
This was a no brainer, it is not often you get such a clear shot of a Leopard just sitting there, but looking lively.Editing
I was using iPhoto at the time and can't remember exactly what I did, but probably very little. In my camera bag
Back then, I had a Canon 600D and the lens it came with. Purchased the 100-400m for the Safari. Beanbag.Feedback
Bean bags on safari are the best, they are the most useful stabiliser as you can swivel your camera to follow animals etc. Two cameras are a good idea to prevent dust getting into your cameras, and using two different length lenses. Also a good idea to go on a photographic safari, they will move the jeep to capture a better image.
