Seen from a popular bridge overlook near Jáco, Costa Rica, a massive American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) - engineered to survive and unchanged for millennia - rests in the Tárcoles River with nearly 30 others sunbathing on an adjacent sandbank. This isn't a park attraction either! Simply a bridge over the river where tens to hundreds of people literally just park in the dirt near the small shops and food stops, walk to the middle of the bridge, and peer over at the horde of reptiles below.
