I have been where the water is so clean I can see to
the bottom of the river this when I am young it cant happen
NO MORE UNLESS JEALOUS PEOPLE WANT TO HELP
MAKE A BETTER WORLD BUT I DONT THINK ITS GOING TO
HAPPEN BECAUSE JEALOUS PEOPLE ARE GOING TO
DESTROY THIS EARTH WITH STUPID IDEAS ABOUT HOW
THEY NEED SO MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH
MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH
MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH
WHEN all we ever wanted was LOVE
See all

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a secret pool off Hwy 2 in Washington State.

Time

This was shot during early afternoon.

Lighting

It was a sunny day which gave great color to the area but also posed some light and shadow challenges

Equipment

Canon 7D w/2 sec timer set Tamron 10-24 w/ 8ND filter Tripod

Inspiration

This location brought a lot of inspiration. It was secluded, peaceful, and almost mystical.

Editing

This was an HDR/Bracketed composite of 3 exposures. I edited each exposure in Lightroom to bring out the elements I wanted to be in the forefront of the image. I then brought the exposures into Photoshop and digitally blended them together in the finished photo.

In my camera bag

Canon 7D Tamron 10-24 Canon 24-105L Canon 400 5.6L Prime Canon 1.4 Extender Canon wired remote Polarizer, 8ND, 13ND Filters Extra Batteries and Memory cards Lens cleaner Manfrotto Tripod Lowepro Medium Camera Bag Lowepro Backpack

Feedback

For shots with extreme lights and shadows, its always prudent to get to know your cameras HDR functionality, using your tripod, and to get out there and practice taking shots of this nature. Now not everybody out there has the budget for software like Photoshop to blend your exposures together. But that's ok. There is a great freeware piece of software called "GIMP" that I used for a while before upgrading to Photoshop that has a lot of online tutorials on "youtube" on how to do digital blending in the same manner as you would in Photoshop (and its free) :-)
