Lumsdale waterfalls is near Matlock is the county town of Derbyshire, England. It is situated at the south eastern part of the Peak District, with the National Park directly to the west.Time
The image was taken about 1pm on the 24/10/2011 the light was sunny however lumsdale sits in a gorge so new the light would be interestingLighting

After many years out of photography and the advent of digital, I purchased a pentax kx with lens 18-55 al and a 55-200 also a really cheap flimsy velbon tripod and a remote, which I later found out wasn't compatable with this cameraInspiration
After some research my wife and I decided to have a weekend break and I did some research on Matlock looking for waterfalls to practice on, lumsdale is just one mile from Matlock, at the top of creek there is a mill pond which stores water for the watermills that used to be powered by the fast flowing water, there are still some ruins evident from the industrial revolution era, and is also a nice walkEditing
These were my very early days in digital so any processing would have been extremally limited, maybe a small crop, and lighting adjustments.In my camera bag
I now have a Panasonic lumix g9, battery grip, Panasonic 100-400, 42.5 portrait lens, 30mm f2.8 macro lens , 12-60 f 2.8 and a small nissin flashgun, I use a redsnapper tripodFeedback
There was a catalogue of mistakes taking this image, the remote I had bought wasn't compatible with my kx, there are no focussing points in the kx viewfinder, I knew nothing about auto iso this image has an iso of 1600 so this is the slowest shutter speed i could achieve, was 1/8 of a second at f29, matrix metering. However this is one of my favourite images and I have sold a couple of copies, what this image did for me was to bring back my love of photography, so my advice is practice then more practice don't get dis heartened that every image isn't brilliant I was extremally lucky with this image as I love how it turned out especially with my limited understanding of digital so test yourself with different genres, Keep clicking!
