Location
This photo was taken at a small eco-system at the end of a picnic area in Rocky Mountain Nat Park, Colorado.Time
Time of day was late afternoon just after the sun moved west behind the mountains.Lighting
There is around 40 minutes from where the sun starts to set and shining over the peaks of the Rockies.Equipment
I used my Canon 70D with the 50-250mm lens, skylight and polarizer filters. This lens is awesome when used wide open to blur the background. I never use a tripod, even when using longer lenses.Inspiration
I visit the RMNP about twice a month during winter and 3 to 4 times a week during the other months. There is so much scenery and wildlife and it is almost on my doorstep. (Travel takes around 40min). Having the altitude of 8000 to 12000 feet means you can get all weather in one day. But the area is known for 300 days of sunshine per year, which helps get the pictures almost anytime, if not right, just wait 20min.Editing
I can't remember doing post processing, if I did then I used ON1 software and adjusted the contrast slightly. Now that ON1 supports Google NIK plugins, I can "Fine-Tune" most pictures to enhance as required. In my camera bag
Canon 70D, Canon 550D, Canon lenses: 50mm 1.8, 18-55mm 3.5, 18-135mm 3.5, 50-250mm f3.5, Sigma 18-300, Sigma 70-200 2.8, Sigma 150-500 6.3. Canon SX40 just to help out. Android cellphone using the app A Better Camera and the Canon Remote app for the 70D.Feedback
