Jokulsarlon Beach is a beach like no other. Black sand born out of Iceland's ferocious volcanic activity, contrasts in stark beauty against freshly fallen brilliant white snow and shimmering ice, shards that once formed part of the nearby glacier. The dark clouds that brood over the icy waters of the Norwegian Sea, signal that it won't be long before all is white.
Photographing in the sub-Arctic winter is challenging - hands chill in no time, batteries drain quickly, and weather and light rarely stays the same for long.
