Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken just inside my house on a glass coffee table beside a window, there were so many yummy treats brought home and I believe it was close to valentines day.

Time

I believe it was late afternoon that this was taken, or right around lunch, i ate a few others before I took a photo of this one.

Lighting

The light in this image is just natural sunlight, the table the cupcake was sitting on was right beside a large open window during a summers day, so I utilized what was there.

Equipment

I believe for this image I used my old Canon EOS rebel T3i, and just a regular 18-55mm lens. No special flash or anything.

Inspiration

My mother used to work in a bakery and she was able to bring home all these delectable treats all the time, she brought home some red velvet and other cupcakes for valentines day and I just loved the little heart on this one. I also wanted to try doing some food photography as I haven't really done it until then.

Editing

I only adjusted the contrast and brightness in this one a little bit, I wasn't big on Photoshop when I took this and never really played with my photos. Now i do a few things to photos depending on what it is!

In my camera bag

Right now all I carry is my Nikon D3500 and an 18-55mm lens, I just switched from Canon back to Nikon so I don't have many accessories or lenses for it just yet. I'm also just a hobbyist, no need for super fancy equipment right now.

Feedback

Take many photos! Don't be afraid to try different angles either, make sure to utilize the light you have and adjust the placement of the item. Try to find something that pops out to you or speaks to you in the image and try to make that the focal point of your image.
