Behind The Lens

Location

In my yard in Eufaula, Oklahoma, laying on a shower curtain so I didn't have to use a tripod.

Time

Early morning, just as the sun cleared the horizon and lit up the grass..

Lighting

Low angle lighting

Equipment

Canon T3i Canon 100mm macro lens, no tripod, no flash, f2.8 ISO100 1/160th second

Inspiration

I like to shoot macro early in the morning so I can get a low angle on the sunlight. Actually, I was looking for spiderwebs in the grass, and you can see them at that time of day.

Editing

Noise filter

In my camera bag

I usually carry 2 cameras, (Canon T3i) one with my macro lens and one with my Tamron 18-270.

Feedback

Early morning is best for this kind of shot in my opinion. The light isn't too bright and comes in from an angle. I don't like tripods for these, since I shoot them from the side, not the top. I take an old shower curtain to lay on so I don't get so wet. The grass is soaking wet on the days when these show up the best.
