Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Northampton beside a wall of graffiti I discovered behind a retail park

Time

This was taken at about 4pm

Lighting

I exposed the shot for the graffiti then used a bare bulb flash on the floor to the left to add some light to the model

Equipment

Nikon d3100 with a tamron 18-200 lens, the flash is a yongnuo yn-460 (cheap and cheerful!)

Inspiration

The model wanted some photos to use on Facebook and wanted something "different" seeing this graffiti offered the perfect opportunity.

Editing

This image is heavily processed(obviously), I desaturated the graffiti then added a colour layer, ten used a sandstone texture over the top... Lastly I was sent an image of a meteor and put it in for a laugh...surprisingly the model loved it saying it was almost end of world, ish

In my camera bag

D3100 body Nikor 18-55 kit lens Tamron 18-200 Yongnuo yn-460 flash Prinz jupiter flash Wireless trigger and receiver

Feedback

Even when I'm in a specific location for a shoot I will always go for a walk after and 9 times out of 10 there's somewhere interesting I wouldn't have noticed before and most importantly take your kit everywhere as you never know when an opportunity will present itself
