Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a trip to Nainital. We were exploring all the Tals that are situated above Nainital and I found this spot.

Time

It was during the afternoon which just shows the beautiful weather of Nainital, even at a peak hour. I had to walk really close to the edge to get the shot.

Lighting

It was mostly natural light because the scene itself was breathtaking and I wanted that exact raw beauty to be visible in the photo.

Equipment

It was simply on a Canon 600D with 18-55 mm lens. This shot was within the first month of me getting the DSLR so it was basically an experiment to understand the basics better.

Inspiration

It was the raw beauty, the sheer thought that something as simple as mountains and clouds could be so peaceful and mean something.

Editing

I am not a fan of post-processing. This photo was taken when I had just got the camera, so no post processing is done in this photo.

In my camera bag

My equipment is Canon 600D with 18-55 mm and 55-250 mm kit lenses. I recently bought the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens as well and I have loved every minute of it. I had a tripod too but it could not stand the test of time.

Feedback

The most important thing to consider while taking such a shot is to find the right angle. The details on the rock as well as the clouds are both very important. Therefore, proper angle needs to be figured out to avoid overexposing the scene or underexposing the rocks.
