This photo was taken when I was living in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The flower is from my Aunt's backyard garden.Time

Lighting is completely natural. The background light you see in the back of the photo is the sun. No flash.Equipment
This was shot with a Sony DSC W530. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
My Aunt April, my grandmother, Linda, and I spent quite a few hours in this garden of flowers, herbs, and vegetables. I didn’t have to go far to find great subjects such as flowers, and insects. I loved being able to capture beautiful nature photos right in the back yard.Editing
Instead of getting on the ground and looking up to take this photo, I took this photo by putting my camera under the flower and pointing it up. So, most of the work for this photo came in getting an image like this that had a clean background. After I got a picture with a clean background to work with, I did a basic auto-correct.In my camera bag
Being a beginning photographer, I don't have advanced equipment. I just carry a simple Sony digital camera with a fully charged battery.Feedback
My best advice is to experiment, and really get lost in your photography. Even if it looks silly. Just forget that anyone is around you. To capture this specific type of photo, I put my camera under the flower and pushed the shutter half down to auto-focus. Once I could tell that it had focused, I snapped the picture. I had to keep doing this and reposition the camera until I got a photo that didn’t have any other flowers, rooftop, powerline, or other debris in the background.
