Behind The Lens

Location

Dell Rapids, South Dakota

Time

I waited until about 10 PM to go out and take this picture. My little sister came with and helped me find a good path down the cliff walls. It was shortly after midnight when I got what I wanted

Lighting

I used three Nikon flashes, two 900 and one 600. I used filters on the flashes to make the cliff pop out more.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D300, three Nikon flashes (with gels), tripod, CS5 ( to do the HDR) and 3 pocket wizard.

Inspiration

I always thought it would be fun to do. I read in a magazine about light painting and I thought this place would be perfect.

Editing

I layered the Pics in CS5. I layered the pic with several similar pics.

In my camera bag

I usually have my Nikon 800, Nikon 300,two Nikon 900 flashes, Nikon vr 70-300, Tamron 17-50mm 2.8, 24mm 1.8

Feedback

You can't get a great shot with out experimenting and trying different things.
