I adore this photo! I just love the vibrancy of the background and how it is blurred as a contrast to how crisp his face is. Plus that expression is awesome! What a cutie!

I've seen plenty of cute puppy photos, but this is just amazing! I love everything about it. Well done on a perfect photo! (P.S. I have a Staffy girl. They are amazing dogs). :)

I took this photo of my puppy Indi, in my back yard. I live in South Australia.Time
It was around 11:30am I took this photo.Lighting
Lighting on this photo was so important as her fur can be quite dark specially her face if you don't get the light bright enough. I noticed the sun was out virtually above and was very bright as we were in the middle of summer. With the light above her rather that in front helped as it didn't take the colour away from her eyes, the only problem I had was to get her to look up so she didn't have shadows on her face.Equipment
My camera for this shot was a Canon 600D with a Sigma Art lens 24 - 105 mm F4. I took this photo hand held. No flash as it would have taken all the colour out of her eyes.Inspiration
What inspired me to take this photo was I love her so much, every morning since my wife & I picked up and bought our little Indi home I took photos of her. It takes a lot of photos to get that really special photo. We have this photo on our wall.Editing
Yes all photos I take and want to keep I always process them in Photoshop. I work part time as a photographer so no photo goes untouched. With this photo of Indi I did the usual which is smooth the photo out a little also sharpen the photo. I wanted this photo to be more natural so I didn't want to play with the colours as they came out beautifully. I saw that the colours were enough in her eyes without me wanted to make them look to over done like I would with shooting fashion portraits. I adjusted the black and white levels, curves and the hues just a little to show the background as well. As she was still a pup her nose hadn't gone black yet her skin still had that faded colour so I wanted her to look like her.In my camera bag
I carry all my cameras in my Canon back pack. I have a Canon 7D body as well as a Canon 600D. I have a Sigma Art lens 24 - 105 F4 plus a Canon 50mm lens. I also use a Canon 18 - 85mm lens, I have a light weight tripod on the outside of my bag. I also carry 3 Yongnuo speed light flashes with transmitters. I also carry a dome flash light diffuser.Feedback
The only advice I can give you when taking photos of your puppies or dogs is you need to get there attentions without scaring them. I find when I have my camera lens in there face I place the camera on speed shooting and the sound of my camera going off make them look straight into the lens normally with their ears pointing up. If I need them to come over to me I have a squeaky toy but you can't let them see the toy or all crazy breaks out. lol I keep it in my jacket give it 1 squeak and they run over to me to find out where the sound came from and while they're looking at me I snap away. If I need an action shot I squeak the toy and shoot them while they are running at me normally laying on the ground at their eye level. I hope that helps a little for those wanting to take photos of dogs.
