Peking is an older name for what we now call Beijing, but it also calls back a different time, culture and way of life. This alley in the Qianmen neighbourhood just south of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City is part of the old city, parts of which haven't changed in ages. When the moon rises, the tourists ebb and the locals come out of the corners, in what is truly Peking night street life.
