Location
This photo was taken while I was aboard the 'Maid of the Mist' ride in the Niagara Falls.Time
It was midday, exactly the time of the day you would expect the most sunlight. The sun was behind me when I took this photo.Lighting
This photo is one of the countless ones of the famous Niagara Falls. I took it as a challenge to standout of the crowd and maybe even make my photo appear as if it had been taken from some magical place. There is another photo that I took in the Niagara Falls, which I am sure would be fairly uncommon compared to other photos in that location.Equipment
I used a Digital Camera with no other equipment. It was a Sony WX-300.Inspiration
While aboard the Maid of the Mist, there came a view of the falls which made it look mysterious, as if the falls came out of nowhere. I instantly knew that it would look fantastic on a photograph.Editing
I did not do any post-processing.In my camera bag
Since I use a digital camera, there really is nothing much I could use for my camera. So when I travel, I generally put my camera in a pouch, put my belt through it and wander off!Feedback
It is very important to realize that you would come across a huge number of views that would look better in a photograph than in person. You would also come across a number of views that only look better in person. I feel that it is quite helpful to understand which views would look better through the lens of a camera. Remember, with a camera in hand, you are in a position where you can control what you let through your camera's lens. A crude example would be-let's say you were in a considerably dirty area that has piles of junk everywhere. Except one place. One magical place. With your camera, if you choose your shot properly, you can make that place look magical. So what I would recommend is take lots of photos with your camera and get a feel of what your camera sees. Then, in every view you come across, learn to tell apart the piles of junk and that magical place within.
